ARSA Symposium featured industry, regulatory experts in panels and presentations

Sarah MacLeod, Executive Director of the Aeronautical Repair Station Association (ARSA), opened the recent 2012 ARSA Legislative Day and Symposium that consisted of a two-day agenda of speakers, panels and award presentations. Keynote speaker Peggy Gilligan, FAA Associate Administrator for Aviation Safety, discussed the new FAA Air Transportation Modernization and Safety Improvement Act, which funds the agency and includes provisions for the NextGen air traffic modernization and implementation, as well as other programs.

FAA reauthorization also protects the Bilateral Aviation Safety Agreement (BASA) by including provisions for inspection of foreign repair stations, which ARSA was instrumental in preserving as the bill was under consideration.

The Symposium included panels featuring maintenance industry and regulatory experts, workshops and presentations. A recognition award was given to U.S Representative Tom Petri (R-WI) for his work on FAA reauthorization. ARSA also presented the association's Leo Westin Award to former FAA Aircraft Maintenance Division Manager Carol E. Giles for past work on regulations and standards.

David Albert, Chromalloy Vice President of External Affairs and ARSA Government Affairs Chairman, addressed the membership on engagement in the legislative process during Legislative Day.
