New test lab will facilitate PMA development
Chromalloy has expanded its Parts Manufacturing Approval (PMA) design and manufacturing capabilities with the addition of a new test lab. "Our recently completed Chromalloy Test and Development Lab for PMA airfoil components allows us to test components onsite in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) guidance," said Tim Ulles, General Manager, Newnan, Ga. Chromalloy exhibits at GE7FA User Conference
Chromalloy exhibited at the 2010 GE7FA Users Group industry gathering last month in Atlanta. The annual conference, which drew about 200 gas turbine operators and vendors, offered roundtables, workshops information sessions, manufacturer presentations and a vendor fair. Chromalloy exhibited Frame 7FA overhaul and repair services including advanced repairs for turbine buckets and nozzles and advanced repairs for shroud blocks and diaphragm segments. BELAC receives FAA approval for component coatings
BELAC LLC has received approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for new under platform coatings for the CF6-80C2 stage one turbine engine blade. The BELAC part numbers for the new coatings are BLC1538M90P12-1 and BLC1538M90P12-2. While BELAC began offering CF6-80C2 stage one turbine engine replacement blades to operators beginning in 2006, the recent approval from the FAA applies to coatings that enhance the components' durability and performance during engine operation. Sequa board member reports volcano effect on NBC
Mark Rosenker, former National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Chairman and a member of the Sequa Corporation Board of Directors, appeared as an NBC news analyst in recent weeks. Rosenker appeared on programs including the TODAY Show, the NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams and various MSNBC broadcasts to discuss the effects of the Iceland volcano on air traffic and aviation safety. His comments included discussion about effects of volcanic ash on aircraft performance, including the engine. Read More
