Chromalloy delivering alternative parts for LM2500+
Chromalloy is delivering the industry's first alternative High Pressure Turbine (HPT) parts for the LM2500+ marine and industrial aeroderivative gas turbine engines. "Chromalloy will deliver a full set of first stage HPT blades for a land-based LM2500+ propulsion system to our launch customer this month," said Armand F. Lauzon, Jr., President. "The customer, a maintenance, repair and overhaul center in Turkey, selected Chromalloy parts to take advantage of significant cost savings, reliability and performance." Read More
"Turbine operators who select Chromalloy's alternative HPT parts realize significant cost savings - up to 30 percent off the catalog price of original equipment manufacturer new parts," Lauzon said. Addressing the demands of LM2500+ marine and industrial turbine operators with lower cost, reliable solutions for alternative parts "was the next step in Chromalloy's strategy to provide operators with reliable, high performance alternative parts as we have for many propulsion systems in the marine and industrial aeroderivative, heavy industrial and aerospace segments," he said.
The LM2500+ engine powers cruise ships and generates electrical energy at industrial sites around the world. The power system is a variant in the LM2500 engine family series and delivers up to 30.5 MW or 40,500 shp. Chromalloy has produced alternative HPT parts for the LM2500 marine and industrial aeroderivative gas turbine engines since 2001 when it delivered the first alternative vanes and blades to a customer operating the LM2500 engine. In 2003 the company expanded its alternative parts offering and announced the sale of its first set of LM6000 parts to an industrial turbine operator.
