Chromalloy gears up for 25th annual POWER-GEN International

Chromalloy will exhibit a full line of gas turbine engine parts and repairs for heavy industrial and aeroderivative applications at POWER-GEN International, scheduled for the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla., November 12-14. On display will be the company’s advanced repairs, parts and predictive diagnostic monitoring system.

POWER -GEN is the world’s largest energy industry event and this year celebrates its 25th anniversary. Activities include hosting the most influential people in the power generation industry over the last 25 years at an Awards Gala, and recognition of the top influencers during keynote sessions.

Keynote speakers are Peter Delaney, Chairman, President and CEO, OGE Energy Corp.; David Dunning, Group President, Fluor Corp.; Amy Ericson, President, Alstom US; and James Rogers, Chairman, Duke Energy. Networking events are scheduled throughout the event. More than 50 educational sessions will be offered in multiple conference tracks and four technical tours will be available to participants.

Leonard Lump appointed to Chromalloy Commercial Aero SBU

Leonard ‘Bo’ Lump has been appointed Director, Vertical Market, Small Engines, of the company’s Commercial Aero SBU. Lump will focus on growing the small commercial engine services business. He joined Chromalloy in 2012 as Director of Business Development at the Phoenix, Ariz., facility, which specializes in APUs and small propulsion and industrial engines.

He has more than 15 years of business development, client engagement, relationship development and sales force management expertise. Prior to Chromalloy he worked at Barnes Aerospace as Business Development Manager. Earlier he was Director, Business Development, and co-founder of MSL Precision. Prior to that, he worked as Director of Business Development, North America, at CDI Aerospace. Earlier he held roles in business development and engineering at CDI Aerospace.

He began his career in the U.S. Navy, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering. He also holds a Bachelor of Science from Northern Arizona University. He is a certified Six Sigma Green Belt and LEAN Advocate.

 

Chromalloy expert addresses Gas Turbine World China

Neil Kanagaratnam, Engineering Director of Chromalloy’s gas turbine engine repair and development operation in Bangkok, Thailand, discussed superalloy turbine component repairs during the recent Gas Turbine World China Summit in Shanghai. Kanagaratnam’s presentation covered repair development using high-temperature robotic welding, defect-free super alloy repair technologies and other processes.

Discussed was a set of processes that speed new repair development and ensure quality control for turbine components in aircraft engines and marine, heavy industrial and land-based turbines. The presentation included an in-depth analysis of materials and metallurgy as they pertain to turbine blade and component repairs.

Also covered were ceramic thermal barrier coatings and other advanced coatings, which increase efficiency and provide protection at extreme operating temperatures.

Chromalloy was a sponsor of Gas Turbine World China Summit. The two-day gathering was hosted by the European Turbine Network and Independent Power Producers Forum.

 

Dubai Air Show to attract more than 60,000

The Middle East’s largest aerospace industry gathering – the Dubai Air Show – tees up November 17-21 at the Dubai World Central in Jebel Ali, Dubai, UAE. The 2013 show includes a static display of nearly 50 aircraft, flight demonstrations, an exhibition hall, pavilions, a technical briefing schedule and training seminars.

Planners anticipate 1,000 exhibitors and 60,000 attendees from around the world including airlines, manufacturers, suppliers and aftermarket providers. Exhibitors will represent commercial aviation, defense, helicopters and unmanned systems.

On November 19 the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) holds the MENA Forum, which will include technical presentations on advanced avionics topics by subject matter experts. This year’s Dubai Air Show includes a dedicated training event for the aviation industry, the Gulf Aviation Training Event (GATE) on November 18-19.
