Chromalloy Selected to Provide Compressor Repairs and Overhaul for Signal Hill LM2500 Industrial Gas Turbine Engine

Signal Hill is First Customer for Gas Generator Maintenance and Overhaul at Chromalloy’s New LM2500 Depot

Chromalloy announced today that it has been selected by Signal Hill Wichita Falls Power, LP, to provide repairs and overhaul on the independent power generator’s LM2500 industrial gas turbine engine.

The contract covers the installation of Chromalloy’s Single Crystal Platinum Aluminide and Air Plasma Spray coated High Pressure Turbine (HPT) blades, nozzles and shrouds. The contract is the first LM2500 gas generator overhaul to be performed at Chromalloy’s recently unveiled LM2500 service center depot in San Diego. Prior to this Signal Hill overhaul Chromalloy had performed an LM2500 HPT module exchange for another customer.

Chromalloy is pleased to build on our relationship with Signal Hill Wichita Falls Power by providing the company with maintenance and overhaul on its LM2500 industrial gas turbine engine, said Armand F. Lauzon, Jr., President. “In addition to superior services and repairs, we will replace the engine’s components with Chromalloy’s proven, high performance components, including First and Second Stage HPT blades, vanes, and First Stage HPT shrouds.”

Signal Hill’s LM2500 gas turbine engine powers the company’s electricity generating station in Wichita Falls, Texas. The industrial aero derivative gas turbine engine is one of three at the utility company’s power generation plant.

Chromalloy HPT replacement blades, vanes and components have demonstrated superior reliability and durability. The company’s ‘Single Crystal’ nickel alloys provide greater durability and improved performance in LM2500 and LM6000 gas turbines, Lauzon said.

For more than 20 years, Chromalloy has provided superior service and high performance components for the LM2500 to operators throughout the world.

In September, 2009 the turbine engine service company expanded its offering, unveiling a dedicated depot in San Diego for LM2500 service, repairs and replacement parts. Chromalloy now offers the LM2500 turbine engine operators a proven, cost effective alternative to original equipment manufacturer (OEM) support for the complete range of Level 1 through Level 4 depot maintenance, module exchange, leased engines, and field service support. The San Diego facility also has an on-site test cell.

The facility provides HPT module repair and overhaul and gas generator and power turbine overhaul. Additionally, it supplies high performance replacement blades, vanes, and solid shrouds. In addition to a full range of industrial, marine and aviation gas turbine engine maintenance, repair and parts, Chromalloy designs and manufactures FAA approved replacement parts that meet or exceed the performance, reliability and durability specifications of original equipment manufacturer parts.

In support of marine and land-based power generation turbines, the company employs identical engineering disciplines used to produce its FAA-certified parts.

Chromalloy is the only supplier providing FAA-approved replacement parts for the critical hot section of gas turbine engines.

Chromalloy serves commercial and military customers worldwide and has operations in the U.S., Mexico, the U.K., Netherlands, Italy, Germany, France, the U.A.E., Israel, China, Singapore, Thailand, Japan and Australia.
