Europe’s largest aviation maintenance gathering kicks off Oct. 7–9

More than 5,000 attendees from 40 countries are registered to attend Aviation Week’s MRO Europe 2014 conference and exhibition Oct. 7-9 at the IFEMA Exhibition Hall in Madrid, Spain. The agenda includes a wide range of maintenance topics including an expert panel presenting a 10-year forecast hosted by Aviation Week.

Villena joins Chromalloy as Director of Sales, Military SBU

Johnny Villena, a long-time defense and aerospace sales and business leader, has joined Chromalloy as Director of Sales. Villena’s expertise includes sales growth, business development and logistics management in the commercial aerospace and defense segments. He joins Chromalloy from ISO Group, Inc., where he was Business Development Director.

At ISO Group, Villena supported international and domestic customers on more than 1,600 military platforms. Prior to that role, he held the position of Government & Military Business Development Manager at StandardAero. Earlier he was the International Business Development Manager at ARINC Aerospace. He began his career as a Logistics Officer in the U.S. Air Force, supporting F-16 and EF-111 Raven aircraft.

Villena holds a Master’s Degree in business management from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri, and a Bachelor’s Degree in political science from University of Georgia. He holds a Project Management Certificate from Villanova University and Miller Heiman Conceptual/Strategic certification.

 
 

POWER-GEN Middle East to feature industry experts, tours

POWER-GEN Middle East, the region’s largest industry gathering and exhibition, anticipates 4,000 participants when the event gets under way Oct. 12-14 at Abu Dhabi’s National Exhibition Centre. Highlights include keynotes, industry experts and a full agenda of seminars in three tracks: plant operations, plant technology and business strategies.

The gathering is the region’s major annual platform for the industry to review trending issues. Government ministers and key staff will contribute again this year, along with executives from international and regional utility and private power companies.

Keynote speaker at POWER-GEN Middle East during the opening ceremonies will be Dr. Hisham Khatib, Honorary Vice Chairman, World Energy Council, Jordan. Other speakers are Alan Thomson, Managing Director, Abu Dhabi Sewage Services Company, UAE; and Timm Dower, Group Publisher, Water & Waste Group, Pennwell Media Group.

Other event highlights include technical tours of the Ansaldo Thomassen Gulf Repair facility and Masdar City. Logistics Officer Association Symposium tees up in Virginia

Applying commercial best practices to Department of Defense logistics and joint logistics in a sequestered world are two topics that will be addressed by military and industry experts at the Logistics Officer Association Symposium 2014, slated for Oct. 19-22 at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City in Arlington, Virginia.

The theme of this year’s Logistics Officer Association Symposium is "Leaner, Stronger, Connected." Chromalloy will be an exhibitor at the symposium and attendees are invited to visit the company in Hall A, Booth 131.

On Monday, Oct. 20, LOA University will include a full day of expert workshops. General registration will be held Tuesday, Oct. 21, followed by the President’s Welcome from U.S. Air Force Col. Emily B. Buckman, the LOA President. On Wednesday, Oct. 22, industry and military experts will present a series of sessions and panels. The symposium wraps up with an awards presentation at the 2014 LOA National Awards Luncheon.

Air Lift Tanker Association to host 46th annual symposium in Nashville

The 2014 Airlift/Tanker Association and Air Mobility Command Symposium and Technology Exhibition will be held in Nashville, Tennessee, Oct. 30-Nov. 2. The Airlift/Tanker Association is a forum for ensuring military forces have air mobility capabilities. The event will be at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel and Convention Center.

The A/TA and AMC Symposium will feature networking events, mini-conferences and top military keynote speakers. Keynote speakers include the Honorable Deborah Lee James, Secretary of the Air Force; Gen. Mark A. Welsh, Chief of Staff; Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force James A. Cody; Gen. Paul J.
