Aerospace industry gears up for Farnborough Air Show

More than 1,500 aerospace, defense and security companies from around the globe will participate in this year's Farnborough Air Show - one of the world's largest industry gatherings. Farnborough is expected to host more than 200,000 attendees July 14-20 during designated industry trade and public event days.

Farnborough combines a major trade exhibition with a conference, workshop and training agenda. This year's gathering will feature exhibits in multiple buildings and pavilions, plus 18 additional international pavilions. More than 75 aircraft will be on static display, including the new F-35 Lightning II produced by Lockheed Martin. A daily air show schedule will feature continuous commercial and military aircraft flights.

Show organizers anticipate a repeat of recent years in which approximately $72 billion in aerospace, defense, security and space orders were booked by participating companies. Information and registration is available at http://www.farnborough.com/Content/Home.

 
 

Maffi appointed to lead business development in New York

John Maffi, a sales and business leader previously in Chromalloy's Commercial Aero and Military groups, has been appointed Business Development Director at the company's Orangeburg, N.Y., repair, coating and manufacturing facility. Maffi joined Chromalloy in 2012 and most recently served as Regional Account Manager in support of Rolls-Royce North America.

Earlier he was an Account Manager in the Military SBU, managing U.S. Navy, Army and Marine Corps accounts. Prior to Chromalloy he founded and led Avator Impex FZE, a renewable energy trading firm in the UAE. Earlier, he was a Sales and Business Development Associate at Fortune 500 companies including SAIC and Pactiv Corporation. He began his career as a U.S. naval officer and aviator flying P-3 Orions and serving in operational leadership positions. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina.

 
 

Connecticut repair facility appoints Totti to lead business development

Simone Totti has been appointed Business Development Director at Chromalloy's repair and manufacturing center in Windsor, Conn. As a sales, business and marketing executive in the MRO and automotive industries, he joins Chromalloy from WGI Inc., an overhaul and repair provider for aircraft engines and mechanical systems, industrial turbines, medical equipment and other applications.

At WGI Totti held the role of Global Business Development Manager / Deputy General Manager, OEM and MRO Division. Previously at WGI he held the role of Director of Global Business Development, Marketing and Sales, MRO. Earlier he was Business Development and Key Account Manager at automotive manufacturer Renault Italia Spa., in Rome, Italy. He holds a Bachelor's degree from the Univerista degli Studi Roma Tre in Rome, and a Master of Science in international affairs from the Institute for International Political Studies in Milan.

 
 

St. Ouen, France, turbine center appoints new sales director

Chromalloy's gas turbine engine center in St. Ouen, France, has appointed Eric Martin as Sales Director. Martin joins the company with expertise in sales growth and business development in the commercial aerospace and military environments. Previously he was Business Development Manager at NYCO Aeronautics, an OEM supplier.

Earlier he was Director, Sales and Marketing, at Zodiac Aerospace. Previous to that, he worked for many years at Honeywell in sales, marketing and contracts roles in the airframe systems and engine units. He began his career as an engineer at metals and materials manufacturers that supply the aerospace and defense industries. He holds a diploma in industrial engineering and masters' degrees in chemistry and physics from South Paris University in France.
